Legazpi mayor urges SK to support campaign vs illegal drugs

LEGAZPI CITY — Legazpi City mayor Noel Rosal on Thursday urged newly elected Sangguniang Kabatan (SK) officials to support Duterte administration’s all-out campaign against illegal drugs.

“Now that you are already public servants, we are asking your all out support to the efforts of the government to stamp out the proliferation of illegal drugs in our community,” he said during the last day of SK mandatory training at the city hall compound here.

Rosal underscored the need to fight drug addiction to keep away the teenagers from the ill effects of dangerous drug, and also not to destroy the good future of youth and minors.

“Always coordinate with other barangay officials, including your parents and the barangay police, for the proper implementation of the curfew ordinance and impose a close monitoring of all the activities of youth to prevent them not to be a victim of drug menace in the community,” he said.

Rosal also lauded the young councilors for choosing to serve the public rather than to venture into private activities.

Meanwhile, the mayor said 10 percent of the total budget of the barangay will be appropriated for the programs and projects of youths.

The SK chairmen will sit as an ex-officio member representative of the youth in the barangay legislative council, while the SK Kagawads have also the role to present any developmental programs and projects for the youths at their respective areas, he said. (Emmanuel Solis/PNA)
