ILOILO CITY — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte urged members of various motorcycle clubs in the country to let their travel serve as proof that it’s indeed more fun in the Philippines.

“Let the miles that you cover attest that it is indeed more fun in the Philippines we drive down the long path ahead. Let us demonstrate solidarity as we build a more a vibrant and more robust society,” he urged the more than 2,000 participants gathered at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) in this during the 25th National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs in the Philippines (NFMCPs) on April 6.

The President, who is also a big bike enthusiast, said he felt “in love” with the Philippines when he travelled “all over” the country.

“One thing is sure for us, we find happiness going around the motorcycle,” he said as he extended the warm welcome for enthusiasts who will be in Davao City for the next convention.

In his message, he assured that he “will step down at the end of my term”.

“I’ve been president for so long this is my third year and my end will come. I don’t know if I am able to survive the three years remaining but God willing, I assure everyone that I will step down at the end of my term,” he said.

He also introduced the senatorial candidates of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), three of whom — reelectionist JV Ejercito, former Philippine National Police Director-General Ronald dela Rosa and former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go — were present during the convention.

He lauded dela Rosa for his sincerity while he credited his former aide, Go, for the establishment of Malasakit Centers in the country.

He announced that together with Ejercito, they will work out for the suspension of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act.

The President also campaigned for other administration bets, including reelectionist senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, former MMDA chief Francis Tolentino, Freddie Aguilar, former DILG secretary Raffy Alunan, reelectionist Sonny Angara, Rep. Pia Cayetano, and Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu. (PNA)
