LGUs, PNP ready to implement new community quarantine classifications nationwide

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) assured that the local government units (LGUs) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are prepared to respond to the newly implemented classifications of community quarantine nationwide.

According to National Task Force Vice Chairperson and DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) conducted a meeting with Metro Manila mayors and they agreed to be more “aggressive” in implementing the barangay lockdowns.

DILG Sec. Año added that besides Metro Manila, Cebu and Talisay will be strictly monitored, given the high number of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in these cities.

The police force will be augmented in Cebu City to ensure the strict implementation of the quarantine measures.

Meanwhile, National Action Plan Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. assured the strengthening of Cebu’s health capacity to successfully combat COVID-19. The government is also set to send PPEs to the said city. – Report from Bea Bernardo
