Lifting of anti-dumping measures opens duty-free pineapple export to Australia

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADCC) issued its final decision to discontinue the anti-dumping (AD) measures that were applied to consumer and food service industrial (FSI) pineapple exported by the Philippines on 06 October 2021.

The AD duties have been in place for at least 15 years (since 2006). The existing measures will expire on 17 October for consumer pineapple and 13 November for FSI pineapple. The AD duties that will soon expire are equivalent to 5.9% for Dole Philippines and 22.9% for all other exporters for consumer pineapple. On the other hand, the AD duties for pineapple products for FSI is 18.7%.

Moreover, the ADCC determined that the expiration of said measures will not lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and to material injury that these measures are intended to prevent.

In 2020, Australia was the Philippines’ 15th largest trading partner, 20th export market, and 15th import source. Total bilateral trade was valued at USD1.17 billion. Philippine exports of pineapples were as follows:
