A group of civilians was fired upon by the local terrorist group in Patikul, Sulu at high noon, October 5, 2020. “Based on the report submitted by Brig. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio of the 1102nd Infantry Brigade, the residents of Barangay Igasan were harvesting farm products when they were fired upon by an undetermined number of local terrorist group members,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. added that the incident resulted in the death of a Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) member identified as Tali Lakibul.

Likewise, Lt. Col. Rafael Caido, Commander of the 6th Special Forces Battalion stated that they immediately coordinated with the BPAT members of Igasan and Kabbontakas for the recovery of the cadaver of the slain victim.

“We also deployed troops to establish a blockade in the withdrawal route of the LTG,” Lt. Col. Caido added.

Troops are conducting hot pursuit operation to neutralize the heartless enemies.

Meanwhile, JTF Sulu Commander Brig. Gen. William Gonzales said that “the LTG is anxious because the people of Patikul have declared the group as Persona Non-Grata in the municipality that is why they create havoc to demonstrate their power.”
