Locsin, Indian counterpart set bilaterals in New Delhi

By Joyce Ann L. Rocamora | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. will be in New Delhi from April 23 to 26 to follow up on actions in various areas of cooperation, including defense, maritime, and health.

This will be Locsin’s first official visit to India and comes on the heels of Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s trip to Manila in February 2022.

Apart from defense, the two foreign ministers are expected to discuss trade and investments between India and the Philippines as well as exchange views on regional and international developments.

In addition, the two officials will witness the signing of a customs-related agreement between the two countries.

Locsin is also scheduled to participate in the Raisina Dialogue, where he will expound on Philippine foreign policy perspectives on pressing issues affecting the region and the world.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said this is the second successive year that Locsin will participate in the forum after participating virtually last year.

The Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community.

The Dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers, and local government officials, who are joined by leaders from the private sector, media, and academia. (PNA) – gb
