Lorenzana takes oath as the new BCDA chief

Former Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana took his oath on Thursday, July 7, as the new chairperson of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

Lorenzana was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The BCDA is a government-owned and controlled development corporation tasked to develop former United States military bases and properties, and has helped in the funding of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization program.

The Department of National Defense (DND) vouched for Lorenzana that he will “steer the BCDA towards a stronger collaboration not only with the AFP, but with all its stakeholders for the development of vibrant economic hubs and communities in different parts of the country.”

Lorenzana was a retired general in the Philippine Army and was a part of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s cabinet from 2016 to 2022. -KC/ag
