Lorenzana: We want to retain the VFA

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is in favor of retaining the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the United States of America (USA).

The National Defense Chief pointed out that the VFA will greatly help the Filipino military to enhance their knowledge on the new equipment used by the US. But he wants to avoid the conduct of military exercise in the South China Sea to prevent adding tension to the territorial dispute.

Lorenzana has initially discussed the security situation in the West Philippine Sea with the new US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III . – PTV News
