MANILA — The low-pressure area (LPA) last spotted 80 kilometers east-northeast of Infanta, Quezon will bring rains to central and southern Luzon on Saturday, a weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday.

The LPA formed on Thursday and was earlier expected to dissolve.

But PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz pointed out Metro Manila will have better weather on Sunday and Monday.

According to PAGASA’s 24-hour weather bulletin at 4 p.m. Friday, Mindoro provinces and northern Palawan will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms caused by the LPA.

The weather bureau cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Marinduque, and Romblon will also have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains brought by the LPA.

PAGASA also warned of possible flooding and landslides in these areas.

Visayas and the other parts of Palawan are forecast to have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms brought by the southwest monsoon and the trough of LPA.

PAGASA similarly alerted of possible flooding and landslides caused by light to moderate rains in these areas.

Other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms, but still cautioned of possible flooding and landslides.

Moderate seaboards will prevail in southern Luzon and Visayas, while other parts of the country will have slight to moderate seas.

No gale warning was issued in any part of the country.

PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-33 degree Celsius across the country until Tuesday.

On Friday, the weather bureau recorded a peak temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius. (Juzel Danganan/PNA)
