LPA, habagat to bring rain showers across PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

The low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rain showers over most parts of the country Tuesday, June 28, the weather bureau said.

The LPA was last tracked 305 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. The southwest monsoon is affecting the western section of the Visayas and Mindanao.

“This LPA is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday or Thursday,” Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Aurelio said the public should always bring an umbrella as scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail across Luzon.

The same weather condition will be experienced over the Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula due to the LPA and habagat.

Flash floods or landslides are likely due to moderate to at times heavy rains, according to PAGASA.

The rest of Mindanao will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

The temperature in Laoag could reach 32 °C, the Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, Tuguegarao and Metro Manila up to 31 °C.

Davao’s temperature could reach 32 °C. Maximum temperature in Tacloban, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga is 31 °C.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail over the entire country. – gb
