LPA, habagat to bring scattered rains across Luzon, Visayas

MANILA – A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring scattered rain showers across Luzon and the Visayas, a weather forecaster said Tuesday (Aug. 10).

“The LPA and southwest monsoon will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Luzon. Rains are likely in the afternoon and at night,” said Meno Mendoza of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

He said the Visayas is also expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The LPA was last spotted 280 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.

“At present, it has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression,” Mendoza said.

Mindanao, on the other hand, will have fair weather with isolated rains caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meantime, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the entire archipelago. (PNA) – jlo
