MANILA –The weather bureau is watching a low pressure area (LPA),   which may become a tropical depression and affect the country by Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather disturbance will be locally named “Samuel” once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The tropical depression was seen 2,310 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 60 kph. It is moving west at 29 kph.
PAGASA said another low pressure area (LPA) was monitored at 435 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, outside PAR.
PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Roxas said the LPA will not intensify into a storm, but bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Palawan and Western Visayas.
Ilocos and Cordillera regions and Cagayan Valley will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains due to the northwest monsoon (“amihan”).
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas and Mindanao will have moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east with moderate to rough coastal waters.
Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 24-33 degrees Celsius, Tuguegarao 23-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 15-25 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 24-32 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 22-32 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 25-34 degrees Celsius.
