MANILA — A low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon affecting Luzon will bring scattered rain showers over the island on Saturday, the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring an LPA, last spotted about 75 km. southeast of Basco, Batanes.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos, the Cordillera region, Batanes, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan will prevail due to the presence of the LPA, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila, Mimaropa and Calabarzon will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow over northern and western Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
