LPA to bring rains across PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Most areas in the country will experience rains caused by a low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The LPA, last tracked 280 kilometers southeast of Davao City, will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Bicol Region, the Visayas and Mindanao.

The LPA remains less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

Rains will also prevail over Cagayan Valley, Apayao and Ilocos Norte due to the northeast monsoon.

These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Light rains are forecast over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon, and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. – gb
