METRO MANILA – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) shall adhere to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur P. Tugade’s directive to implement Operation Plan (OPLAN) AIR (Add routes/PUVs, Increase speed/capacity, Reduce travel time).

LTFRB Chairman Martin B. Delgra III assures the public that the agency is on top of the instructions given by the Secretary, and that the changes in current regulations will be made at the soonest possible time.

“Agaran po nating ipatutupad ang one-seat apart rule sa Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) na may striktong pagsunod sa public safety health protocols. Pinaplansta na lamang ang mga detalye nito na maaaring ilabas ngayong linggo. Ang pagdaragdag ng mga ruta ay patuloy na ring tinatrabaho ng ahensya.” Delgra added.

Yesterday, the Secretary Tugade ordered all transportation sectors to implement the “one-seat apart” rule to increase public transport capacity, operationalize more public utility vehicle routes and units, and accelerate the implementation of service contracting for buses and jeepneys to accommodate more commuters, while strictly enforcing health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This is in line with the decision of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his Cabinet to approve the recommendations proposed by the Economic Development Cluster (EDC) to revive the economy.
