The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said in a media release Tuesday that it is thoroughly reviewing a petition for jeepney fare adjustment filed by major transport groups on Monday.

With volatility in fuel prices among other factors, transport organizations PASANG MASDA, ALTODAP, and ACTO filed a petition requesting a P1.00 provisional fare increase and other fare adjustments for both traditional and modern public utility jeepneys (PUJs).

This petition likewise covers multiple filings between August 2023 and March 2025, with proposals ranging from base fare hikes to adjustments per succeeding kilometer.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III, meanwhile, assured stakeholders that the agency is carefully reviewing the request.

Chairperson Guadiz said, “We are studying the petition in detail to ensure that any fare adjustment is fair, reasonable, and based on solid justification. Our goal is to balance the needs of the riding public and the sustainability of public transport operations.”

The petitioners are asking the LTFRB to declare the previous P1.00 provisional fare hike granted in October 2023 as permanent, and to grant an additional P2.00 provisional increase;  bringing the base fare to P15.00 for traditional PUJs and from P14.00 to P19.00  for modern PUJs.
