Magnitude 4.3 quake hits North Cotabato

MANILA — A magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolted North Cotabato on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake of tectonic origin struck 24 km. southwest of the municipality of Makilala at around 12:26 p.m.

It had a depth of 14 km.

Phivolcs said this was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.6 quake that jolted North Cotabato on July 9.

Meanwhile, Intensity 3 was felt in Kidapawan City, while Intensity 2 was recorded in Tupi, South Cotabato. Intensity 1 was reported in Alabel, Sarangani.

Phivolcs said it is not expecting any damage or aftershocks from the magnitude 4.3 quake.
