Magnitude 4.6 quake strikes Surigao del Sur town

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Marihatag, Surigao del Sur Sunday evening, Aug. 28, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake was tectonic in origin and hit 67 kilometers (km) southeast of Marihatag at 6:00 p.m.

It had a depth of 2 km.

No aftershocks and damages are expected.
