Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Batangas, Metro Manila

MANILA — A magnitude 5.2 quake of tectonic origin jolted Batangas Tuesday at around 12:25 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Based on its report issued at 1:32 p.m., Phivolcs said it is expecting aftershocks.

Intensity 4 was felt in Lubang and Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro while Intensity 3 was reported in Balayan, Tuy, Talisay and Calatagan, Batangas; Quezon City; Clark, Pampanga; Mandaluyong City; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Looc and Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Tanza and Maragondon, Cavite; Makati City and Pasay City.

Intensity 2 was felt in Manila; Plaridel, Obando and Malolos, Bulacan; and Parañaque City.

Phivolcs said instrumental intensities were also recorded in the following areas: Intensity 3 in Malolos, Bulacan; Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City; Intensity 2 in Marikina City; Navotas City; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Talisay, Batangas; and Intensity 1 in Las Pinas City; Pasig City; Quezon City; Bacoor, Cavite; Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; and Guagua, Pampanga. (Ma.
