Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts Sultan Kudarat

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolted Lebak, Sultan Kudarat Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 2, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tectonic quake hit 36 kilometers (km) northwest of Lebak.

It had a depth of focus of 36 km.

Intensity III was felt in Cotabato City, Intensity II in General Santos City, and Intensity I in Zamboanga City.

Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensity IV was felt in T’boli, South Cotabato; Intensity III in Santo Nino and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani; Intensity II in General Santos City; Cotabato City; Malungon and Maasim, Sarangani; and Intensity I in Zamboanga City; Davao City; Cagayan de Oro City; Kidapawan City.

No damages reported. However, aftershocks are expected. –ag
