The City Government of Makati ordered temporary closure of Wantusawa oyster bar after food poisoning allegations.

Inspectors from the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) served a closure order against Wantusawa Oyster Bar/Twin Flames Corporation last Feb. 13 for violating the Sanitation Code of the Philippines.

In January, Wantusawa’s Facebook page was flooded with complaints from customers who alleged they got food poisoning after dining at the restaurant.

Following this, they released a statement addressing online allegations of food poisoning.

In a statement on Jan. 25, Wantusawa said it “always strives to provide freshly prepared meals while adhering to critical safety and health standards.”

“We have addressed each issue in a timely fashion requiring the necessary details in a fair and scientific manner,” it added.

Wantusawa said that laboratory tests conducted on samples for those dates formally complained of have shown a negative result for bacteria “thus clearing possibility of any food poisoning.”

The oyster bar opened their restaurant in Poblacion in 2018. –ag
