Malacañang believes ‘the worst has hit us already’

Malacañang understands if many Filipinos believe that the state of the Philippine economy will decline due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The recent survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) shows that 2 out of 5 Filipinos are expecting that their situation will deteriorate in the next 12 months.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the government has strengthened its response to cope with the situation. He is also confident that the Philippines will recover from the current crisis.

“Sa tingin ko po, the worst has hit us already. At the worst of course was when we had ECQ na sinarado natin ang ekonomiya. Ngayon nagbubukas na po tayo ng ekonomiya at naghahanda po tayo para doon sa pwedeng magkasakit din dahil nga po nagtatrabaho na tayo.Tingin ko po bumabangon na po tayo. (I think the worst has hit us already. At the worst of course was when we had ECQ and the economy was closed. Now, we are reopening our economy and we are preparing for those who will be sick since we are working. I think we are recovering.) It will not be as bad, it can only be better.” The Spokesperson assured.
