Malacañang supports extension of financial aid distribution

Malacañang has supported the plan to extend the 15-day financial aid distribution in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus bubble.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his public briefing on April 12 that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte understands that crowding in payout venues is being prevented to avoid the further spread of COVID-19.

In the same briefing, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Benhur Abalos said that based on what they have observed, finishing the distribution within 15 days is a challenge. He added that they have written a letter to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to request for additional days.

Roque said the President only asks for the “best efforts” of the local government units (LGUs).

The President appealed to the LGUs and agencies concerned to hasten the distribution of aid to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. *
