Malcontento to take oath as new Prosecutor General on July 2

By Benjamin Pulta/Philippine News Agency

MANILA — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said newly appointed Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento may assume office as soon as he takes his oath Tuesday.

In a message to newsmen Monday, Guevarra said Malcontento will be directed to ensure prosecutors dispense justice for all and without bias.

“I will tell him to make the DOJ National Prosecution Service an instrument to achieve justice for all, regardless of political color, religious belief, and social and economic status,” Guevarra said.

Malcontento replaces Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda who retired from the service two years ago.

Meanwhile, Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon, who was appointed officer-in-charge, will return to his former post.
