Mandaue lifts test requirements for vaccinated local travelers

The RT-PCR and antigen test travel requirement for all fully vaccinated domestic travelers entering Mandaue City has been lifted. 

The Mandaue City Emergency Operations Center said negative COVID-19 results will no longer be asked from fully vaccinated travelers starting Oct. 20.

Vaccinated travelers will only need to present their vaccination cards or certificates from the health office where they were vaccinated. The COVID-19 test requirement remains effective for unvaccinated individuals. 

The city government said the new protocol is in line with their drive to boost vaccination. However, it may be lifted in case of a surge.

“The exemption of those fully vaccinated from getting a negative rt-pcr or antigen test before they can go inside Mandaue City coming from other islands or cities outside Cebu, these are the privileges,” City EOC chief Atty. August Lizer Malate said. 

Meanwhile, Cebu City has been studying adopting a similar policy.  

“Pinag-aaralan pa namin ‘yan ngayon. So we will enforce that, but in the meantime, itong Cebu City as what the mayor said kahapon, kami talaga ‘yung hub kaya ang lahat ay dumadagsa dito,” Cebu City EOC chief Councilor Joel Garganera said.
