Manila holds off Gensan, 63-57, in MPBL Datu Cup

MANILA — Manila Stars put up a solid defensive effort in the second half to defeat GenSan Warriors, 63-57, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga on Monday night.

After being limited to just 11 points in the second quarter, the Stars answered by limiting the Warriors to just 10 in the third quarter before holding them off late in the fourth with a game-deciding 6-0 run.

Chris Bitoon, despite turning the ball over eight times, paced Manila with 22 points, three rebounds, and five steals.

Jasper Parker announced his arrival to the MPBL with 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist off the bench.

Chris Masaglang made 15 markers, seven boards, one dime, and two steals for GenSan, which fell to eighth place in the Southern Division at 7-9.
