Manila PHLPost workers fully vaxxed against COVID-19

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has vaccinated nearly 100% of its target group in Metro Manila, making its business transactions safer amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The agency said in a media release on Saturday (July 17) that over 600 Post Office workers, including letter carriers, cashiers, and security guards, completed their vaccination against COVID-19 on Friday (July 16).

It added that around 50% of its postal workers nationwide have been vaccinated.

“Given their work on the frontlines of COVID-19 pandemic, Post Office workers and letter carriers have been prioritized to get their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine,” it said.

Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio urged all Post Office assistant postmaster generals and area directors to immediately take the shot and help achieve 100% vaccination nationwide.

More efficient mailing and parcel delivery services

The PHLPost on March 21 terminated its 75-year-old practice of sending notices to parcel recipients, which caused delays in parcel delivery as such can be received in two or three months’ time to claim the parcel.

The Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported on Sunday (July 18) that the addressee or recipient had to receive a notification card before a parcel could be picked up at the post office. 

In a statement, Fulgencio said this practice was stopped in order to provide safety and convenience to the mailing public who patronize post office services.

Instead of claiming the parcels, the public can expect their mails and parcels to be delivered straight to their doors.

“The Philippine Post Office has removed notification cards as part of its Hatid Malasakit program to speed up delivery of mails and parcels to give much-deserved convenience to the people,” the PNA said. – jlo
