Manila to launch 24/7 vax drive

About 2,923 individuals have signed up as volunteers for Manila City’s 24/7 vaccination program to be launched this month.

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said during a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday (August 2) that the city’s round-the-clock vaccination campaign will need some 200 volunteers.

He called on medical professionals, students or graduates, to volunteer and be part of the city’s vaccination team as vaccinators or encoders.

“Kung sinumang lisensyadong pwedeng magbakuna, idu-duty ko kayo sa gabi to replenish our workforce, our medical frontliners during daytime,” he said.

Domagoso said there will be no compensation for the volunteers, however, free meals will be given.

The Metro Manila Council has previously asked for an additional allocation of four million doses, and the mayors committed to administer all allocated vaccine doses within the enhanced community quarantine.

“Bakunahang walang tulugan sa lalong madaling panahon. We will deploy kapag binigyan na tayo ng bakuna,” Domagoso said. – Report from Patrick de Jesus / CF – rir
