Manila to place 31 barangays under hard lockdown

Thirty-one barangays in the City of Manila will be undergoing a 48-hour hard lockdown starting this Saturday amid the increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Manila PIO said the barangays that will be covered by the lockdown in District 1 are barangays 20, 41, 51, 56, 66, 96, 97, 101, 106, 116, 118, 120,128,129 while those in District 2 are 163, 173, 180, 185, 215. In District 3, barangays 275, 310, 343, 380. In District 5, barangays 649, 724, 766, 775, and 811; and for District 6,barangays 836, 846, and 847 will be included.

Based on the Manila Health Office data, COVID-19 cases in the said barangays spiked to 147 in just two weeks with Barangay 343 having the highest cases.
Around 100 policemen are expected to be deployed in each barangay. Contact tracing and rapid testing will also be conducted by the City Health Office during the lockdown.
The Manila Police District is confident it will monitor well the areas under lockdown despite their number, as data on violators point to a drop for the month of June. There are now 2,248 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city, 1,386 of them are active.
