Marcos Jr. appoints Vergeire as DOH OIC

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. appointed on Thursday, July 14, the Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire as the officer-in-charge of the agency.

Vergeire is the current undersecretary for the Public Health Services Team and Office of the Chief of Staff.

She was also known to be adept in the field of health science, and was one in the frontlines in disseminating information during the height of COVID-19 pandemic.

The health bureau expressed gratitude over the designation of Vergeire, saying they “appreciate the President’s confidence in one of its career executives, including the immense responsibility such trust brings.”

 

DOH vowed on “working together” with the new leadership to continue the achievements that the previous administration had established.

It is also hopeful for the full recovery of the country from the pandemic as it also works towards the “universal health care for all Filipinos.”– ag
