Marijuana dealer falls in Bataan drug bust

ABUCAY, Bataan — Authorities busted a suspected drug dealer, who yielded different sized plastic sachets believed to contain dried marijuana leaves, during a sting operation in a village here on Monday.

Senior Insp. Jennifer Cruz, Abucay police chief, said Karl Joseph Kamatoy, 30, of Dinalupihan town was arrested after handing over a medium sized brick of suspected marijuana leaves to a poseur-buyer in exchange for three marked PHP1,000 bills.

The operation by combined elements of provincial and municipal police conducted in Barangay Calaylayan was in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Cruz said that during a search of the suspect’s backpack, they found and confiscated three large heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, 10 medium sized self-sealing plastic sachets and 32 small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, all believed containing dried marijuana leaves.

The confiscated items have a total value of PHP20,000, she noted.

The town police chief said they were still investigating where the suspect sourced his supply of the illegal drug.

PO2 Rocky Mariano, Abucay police investigator, said a case for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is now being readied against Kamatoy. (Ernie Esconde/PNA)
