‘Maring’ damages in Calabarzon now at P290.8-M

MANILA — Damages in agriculture and infrastructure brought by tropical storm “Maring” is now at PHP290.82 million in Calabarzon region.

Latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a total of 9,432 families or 40,966 individuals were affected in 292 barangays in Region III, the National Capital Region, and Calabarzon.

Of the number, 534 families or 2,173 persons are still being served inside and outside evacuation centers.

As of this posting, the NDRRMC has so far confirmed five deaths due to “Maring” and five missing due to landslides and flash floods caused by the weather disturbance. “Maring” made landfall last September 12.

A total of 1,822 houses were damaged in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon of which 1,493 were partially damaged, and 329 totally damaged. | PNA
