May 9 declared special non-working holiday

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared May 9, 2022, a nationwide special non-working holiday in line with the conduct of the local and national elections.

Duterte signed Proclamation No. 1357 on Thursday, May 5, four days before the country elects its new leaders.

“[There] is a need to declare Monday, 09 May 2022, a special (non-working) holiday to enable the people to properly exercise their right to vote, subject to the public health measures of the government,” the proclamation read. – AG
