Mayon-affected families now at 21K

MANILA — The continuing unrest of the Mayon Volcano has so far affected 21, 733 families in Albay, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its Thursday update.

This is equivalent to 83, 533 persons, said NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad.

Affected families are from 56 barangays in Bacacay, Camalig, Guinobatan, Ligao City, Daraga, Tabaco City, Malilipot, Sto. Domingo and Legaspi City.

As of this posting, 17,490 families or 66,442 individuals are being served inside 67 evacuation centers while 2,179 families or 9,058 persons are being aided outside.

Also, the NDRRMC chief said that a total of PHP32,989,323.78 worth of assistance was provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Office of Civil Defense, Local Government Units, and Non-Government Organizations to the affected families in Albay. (PNA)
