An evacuee staying at one of the evacuation centers in Daraga, Albay tested positive for COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) reported Tuesday, June 20.

Daraga Health Officer Dr. Edna Freya Tan assured the health and safety of other evacuees, noting that the patient has since been isolated.

Tan also assured that weekly disinfection of evacuation centers and facilities as well as daily check-ups of evacuees are being strictly implemented.

She also advised evacuees experiencing flu-like symptoms to immediately consult with medical officers in evacuation centers.

In a separate post, Albay Governor Grex Lagman said the local government is coordinating with health authorities to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

“The COVID-positive patient, of course we have to conform to health protocols. We’ve also identified yung mga nakasalamuha niya–mga 30 persons additional na nasa isolation rin,” Lagman continued. – gb
