Mayor Belmonte denies online report of QC lockdown

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has denied an online report of plan by the Quezon City (QC) government to implement a lockdown due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

Mayor Belmonte says the report is misleading, and that she does not have the power to execute a lockdown.

According to her, the QC Task Force on COVID-19 is just studying the possible effects if a lockdown was implemented so they can prepare. She insists she did not say anything about plans of putting the city on lockdown.

The QC Mayor believes that Metro Manila is not yet ready for a lockdown.
