Medals awarded to 29 personnel of Zambo PNP

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) has awarded medals to 29 personnel, including eight officers, in recognition of their significant operational accomplishment.

Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, PRO-9 director, led the awarding of the Medalya ng Kagalingan (Merit Medal) to the awardees, which was held during Monday’s flag ceremony at Camp Col. Romeo Abendan in this city.

Supt. Ferjen Torred, Senior Insp. Sonny Boy Perez, SPO2 Glen Pastorfide, SPO1 Henry Cavan and PO2 Panfilo Domosmog received the Merit Medal in recognition of their accomplishmenthat led to the arrest of Thomas James Papalla on December 1, 2017 in Barangay Aguada, Isabela City, Basilan.

Papalla is a long time fugitive and convicted for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Chief Insp. Hazel Fernandez, SPO4 Orlando Gellecania, SPO3 Eduardo Covarruvias, SPO3 Raul Galvez, SPO1 Rodolfo Tan, PO3 Joel De Leon, PO2 Asmie Joe, PO2 Arnel Arcillas, PO1 Noel Andrade and PO1 Edgar Gaganting, all assigned with the Police Station 4 were given recognition and awarded Merit Medal for the arrest of two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members on January 17 and 19, this year in this city.

Chief Insp. Rolly Joaquino, Chief Insp. Elmer Solon, Senior Insp. Haran Ulah, PO2 Yosuf Amilhasan and PO1 Oliver Silva, all assigned with the Police Station 7 were cited awarded Merit Medal for the arrest of an ASG member on December 24, 2017 in Barangay San Roque, this city.

Chief Insp. Al-Reiza Kinang, SPO3 Noel Tenebroso, SPO1 Ronnie Baird, SPO1 Asraf Halipa and PO3 Sali Abel were cited and awarded Merit Medal the arrest of an ASG member on January 12, this year, at a shopping Mall downtown.

Chief Insp. Aiko Tesoro, SPO3 Dexter Dalena, SPO2 Dennis Ceno, PO2 Gerome Tare and PO1 Jason Ryan Ponlaroche received Merit Medal as they were cited for the arrest of hired killer on January 11, this year, in Barangay Upper Landing, Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Beltran said the awardees have exemplified the icon of a true and dedicated public servant and have earned honor and prestige, worthy of praise and emulation not only by their peers, in particular, but also for the entire Philippine National Police, in general. (PNA)
