The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Thursday, May 11, announced an upward rate adjustment of P0.1761 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this May due to an increase in generation charges.

This is equivalent to an additional P35.00 for households consuming 200 kWh per month.

Meralco noted that the generation charge rose to P7.6697 per kWh this month from P7.3295 per kWh in April.

Meanwhile, the electric utility said it is set to complete the distribution-related refund equivalent to P0.8656 per kWh for registered residential customers, which will reflect in the June billing period. CF/with reports from Ryan Lesigues-ag
