Merciless Perlas Pilipinas demolishes Vietnam in 2017 SEA Games

Perlas Pilipinas demolished the Vietnam squad with consummate ease and pulled off an emphatic 118-44 triumph in 29th Southeast Asian Games’ women’s basketball at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Philippines and Vietnam consistently exchanged baskets in the first quarter until a Vietnamese pulled a huge triple to extend the lead into four points, but the Filipinas refused to go down without a fight by knocking down a buzzer-beating three pointer to end the first quarter with a narrowed one point lead, 21-20.

Perlas Pilipinas went on full throttle, displaying a 8-0 run at the start of the second canto and continuosly outdueled the Vienamese squad with a ballooning 29-point cushion in the first half, 52-23.

Cindy Resultay spearheaded the Perlas’s first half merciless offense with her 17 huge points, 3 rebounds and perfect five out of five shooting from the field.

In the third period, the Philippines established a staggering 53-point lead, 86-33, converting all the turnovers of the Vietnamese players into their own 39 points – combined with their own 53% shooting accuracy.

There was no looking back since then as they pummeled the Vietnamese team with a 118-44 victory.

Resultay continued to provide sparks as she scored 26 while Dy and Pontejos gave 23 and 15 markers, respectively, for the Philippines’ devastating win. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV
