Metro Mayors to propose December GCQ in NCR

Metro Manila mayors have agreed to recommend to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) the retention of general community quarantine (GCQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) for December.

The Metro Manila Council (MMC) said it is also amenable to the modification of restrictions under GCQ where curfew hours could be eased from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. to give way for Simbang Gabi.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora emphasized that the observance of Simbang Gabi must be in accordance with health protocols.

“Kung ito’y mga events sa labas ng kanilang simbahan, katulad ng mga parade, kailangan nilang sumunod sa mga alituntunin ng IATF at magpaalam sa lokal na pamahalaan (If these are events outside the church, they should follow IATF guidelines and seek permission from the local government),” Manila Mayor Isko Moreno advised.

The mayors agreed to allow individuals aged 15 years-old and below and those who are 65 years-old and older to go out for essential activities. They are also set to resolve confusion on the difference in guidelines of among GCQ areas.

“MMC will come up with uniform guidelines sa (on) interpretation ng (of) IATF reso. We will submit to Año for the final approval. We expect it within the week, para pagdating ng Disyembre malinaw sa lahat ano bang pwede at ‘di pwede (so restrictions will be clear to everyone come December),” Zamora stated.

Meanwhile, San Juan City is set to expand operations of establishments like malls from 50 percent to 75 percent with strict compliance to health standards. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
