Almost one thousand complaints from citizens allegedly harassed by online lending companies have been received by the National Privacy Commission. Once proven, these business outfits may face 7-year prison sentences, and fines of up to PhP 5 million for violating the Data Privacy Act of 2012, Republic Act No. 10173.
