MIAA chief asks OTS to designate queuing officers at NAIA

By Ma. Cristina Arayata/Philippine News Agency

MANILA — Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal on Thursday asked the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) to designate queuing officers in screening checkpoints of all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The request came after Civil Service Commission (CSC) Commissioner Aileen Lizada witnessed Chinese passengers who skipped lines and passed under the cordons at a pre-departure of NAIA Terminal 3 on Thursday.

According to a report, Lizada apparently sent a voice recording to some reporters to share her experience. Reports added that Lizada approached an OTS screener and supervisor regarding the matter.

She also requested Monreal for a copy of the CCTV footage showing the incident.

Monreal said MIAA would give her copies of CCTV footages covering all angles of the incident.
