MIAA commits the following actions to ensure the safety of passengers, employees and aircrafts

To ensure safety and minimize disruptions to operations, MIAA took the following actions to keep passengers, employees and aircrafts safe:

1. The MIAA proactively prepared for the typhoon “Ulysses” which was earlier forecast by PAGASA to hit Metro Manila 11 November 2020.

2. 1000H of 10 Nov 2020: Airport Emergency Plan No. 12 (Severe and Extreme Weather Disturbance) was activated in MIAA meeting with the airlines and PAG-ASA

3. MIAA met with airlines, PAG-ASA and CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco on 11 November 2020, 4:00PM, to implement AEP No. 12 and to ensure that precautionary actions and safety measures are in place prior to landfall.

4. All aerobridges will be tied down from 0000H to 0500H of 12 Nov 2020.

5. Non-essential ground equipment and vehicles will be secured, removed, or relocated from the ramps/aprons.

6. Appropriate NOTAM will be issued based on the 1600H meeting with airlines and ground handlers.

7. Drains at the aerodrome will be cleared.

8. Availability of generator sets, rescue tools, and clearing equipment will be ensured.

9. Shuttle buses were put on standby in case an evacuation is necessary.

10. “Malasakit” kits were prepared for stranded passengers.

11. Continuous monitoring of the typhoon based on data from PAGASA is being made.

12. Coordination with One-Stop Shop Repatriation Group is being done.
