‘Mighty’ Palicte to depart for Japan for WBO title fight

DAVAO CITY – Super flyweight Aston “Mighty” Palicte of the Philippines will be leaving for Japan on June 11 to fight for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) super flyweight title at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City.

The 28-year-old Palicte who has 25 wins, 2 losses, and 21 knockouts, will be facing Japanese Kazuto Ioka (23W-2L-0D, 13KO) for the event on June 19.

Palicte is right now 125 lbs. and training at the Shape Up Boxing Gym in Baguio City.

“Dito lang po sa bundok ako tumatakbo (I only run here in the mountains)” said Palicte.

He will be accompanied by his brother and trainer Vincent.
