Mild quake jolts parts of Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY — A magnitude 2.1 earthquake was felt in some parts of the province at 11:17 a.m. Thursday, state seismologists said.

With epicenter located at 11 kilometers southwest of Dumalneg in Ilocos Norte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 20 kilometers.

Phivolcs said there was no expected damage or aftershocks.

At about 8:28 p.m. Wednesday, a 3.4 magnitude quake was also recorded 43 kilometers northwest of Luna, La Union with a depth of one kilometer. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
