Military intel chief sacked over list of alleged slain NPA members

The Department of National Defense (DND) has relieved Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff for Intelligence Major General Alex Luna from his post.

The firing followed the publication of a list of alleged New People’s Army (NPA) members killed in military operations on the Facebook account of the AFP Information Exchange.

Many quarters have raised concern over its inaccuracy, including those who were named, saying that the list was erroneous.

According to DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the mistake committed is unacceptable for it has caused confusion. Other individuals involved in the publication of the said list will also be held accountable. – Report from Bea Bernardo
