‘Millionaire cop’ in Duterte ‘narco’ list nabbed in Bulacan

MANILA — A rogue policeman in the government’s drug watchlist with supposed links to drug lord Peter Co has been arrested in Guiguinto, Bulacan, the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) said Thursday.

SPO2 Ferdinand Cajipe, an AWOL personnel of the PNP’s Police Security Protection Group (PSPG) was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant in a shopping mall at Barangay Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The warrant was in connection with Cajipe’s conviction for robbery-extortion by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 26.

Cajipe is in Malacanang’s High Value Target list (level III) of personnel involved in illegal drugs and was found to have a bank account deposit amounting to PHP7.72 million. Recovered during his arrest is his service firearm issued by the PSPG and one magnum .357 Lawman MK III revolver.

The account had been frozen by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLAC) citing the policeman’s alleged connection with Co.

Cajipe, however, was convicted on a complaint for robbery extortion filed by Myrna Germedia on January 18, 2002.

Cajipe and three other police officers had brought Germedia to Western Police District Station 11 and threatened her with planted shabu and took her money amounting to PHP100,000.

The suspect elevated the case to the Court of Appeals but it affirmed the guilty verdict against him on June 29, 2009.

On Feb. 8, 2012, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the lower court’s decision and dismissed Cajipe’s appeal. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
