MMC calls for eased restrictions for fully vaxxed population

The Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Thursday (Sep. 9) called on the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to ease the restrictions for COVID-19 fully vaccinated individuals in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In a statement, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos believes that more people will be encouraged to get vaccinated if the restrictions are eased for fully vaccinated individuals. He added that it will also help the Philippine economy to gradually recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, he said the MMC will leave the decision to the IATF-EID.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion earlier proposed the “bakuna bubble” in Metro Manila as an alternative to lockdowns to provide more mobility for COVID-19 vaccinated individuals and protect the unvaccinated population against the virus.
