MMDA activates ‘Oplan Undas’

MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will activate its ‘Oplan Undas’ starting October 27 until November 2 in preparation for the commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Around 2,886 personnel consisting of traffic enforcers and augmentation teams will be deployed to conduct clean up operations in various public and private cemeteries in Metro Manila, according to MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim.

“No day off, no absent policy, will be strictly enforced among our personnel,” Lim reiterated in a statement Wednesday.

Personnel from the agency’s Metro Parkway Clearing Group (MPCG) will be positioned in the following cemeteries for the clean-up drive before and after the holidays:

Caloocan City – North Cemetery, La Loma Cemetery
Las Piñas City – Golden Heaven Cemetery
Makati- Makati South Cemetery
Malabon City – Tugatog Cemetery
Mandaluyong City – Mandaluyong Cemetery (Aglipay), San Felipe Neri Catholic Cemetery (semi-public)
Manila City – North Cemetery, Manila North Green Park (City Shape)
Marikina City – Barangka Cemetery
Muntinlupa City – Soldiers Hill Cemetery
Navotas- Navotas Cemetery
Parañaque City – Palanyag Public Cemetery
Pasay City – Sargento Mariano Public Cemetery
Pasig City – Baraks, Santolan, Roman Catholic Cemetery
Pateros – Garden Memories (Bagong Calzada St.), Aglipay Cemetery (M. Lozada Street), San Joaquin Cemetery (M. Almeda Street), San Roque Cemetery (E. Hermosa Street)
Quezon City – Bagbag, Novaliches, Sangandaan
San Juan City – San Juan Cemetery
Taguig City – Hagonoy Municipal Cemetery
Valenzuela City – Arkong Bato, Karuhatan Cemetery

The MMDA Road Emergency Group (REG) will install tents which will serve as public assistance facilities with ambulances on standby at the Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City and San Juan Public Cemetery to immediately respond to any emergencies.

Members of the Reckless Driving Enforcement Team, Anti-Jaywalking Unit and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group will likewise be dispatched at the following bus terminals: Araneta, Cubao, EDSA, Pasay-Taft, Sampaloc, Dangwa and Mindanao Avenue to prepare for the influx of passengers.

“We appeal to the public to cooperate with traffic enforcers and other government authorities in order to guarantee a peaceful and orderly celebration of All Saints’ Day,” the MMDA chief said. (PNA)
