MMDA: No roadworks, mall-wide sales during FIBA World Cup

In preparation for the FIBA World Cup, roadworks in Metro Manila are temporarily suspended effective midnight of Aug. 17 up to midnight of Sept. 10, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Roadblocks, including reblocking, utility works, pipe laying, road upgrading, excavation works, will be suspended in the following locations:

  • EDSA Monumento to SM MOA
  • Kalayaan Ave., C5 Road to EDSA
  • Along Diokno Blvd.
  • P. Ocampo St., Taft Ave. to Roxas Blvd.
  • Roxas Blvd., NIA Road to UN Ave.
  • Along Meralco Ave.
  • Ortigas Ave. EDSA to C5 Road
  • EDSA North Ave. to Agham Road

The conduct of mall-wide sales will also be prohibited in malls along EDSA and other areas affected by the FIFA World Cup.

This is to ensure that all affected roads will remain passable and serviceable to all types of vehicles and pedestrians during the said period.

The FIBA World Cup will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10. -ag
